Course Description

Welcome to Mastering Communication: From Basics to Brilliance, a comprehensive course designed to equip you with the tools you need to communicate in a manner that builds trust and connection with others, both as the listener and the speaker.  Skills that help you develop and deepen your personal and professional relationships.

The course begins by exploring how we learn to communicate, delving into the familial and social influences that shape our communication styles.  Next, we'll examine how perceptual bias impacts our ability to hear and understand different points of view. We will then shift our focus to the critical aspect of listening for understanding, identifying the seven signs of poor listening, and providing strategies to overcome these common pitfalls.

You will learn how to actively listen to others, a skill that involves listening attentively and responding in a manner that allows others to feel heard. This is achieved through understanding and acknowledging the underlying emotions and intentions in a conversation. In the latter part of the course, we'll consider the importance of owning your perspective in a constructive manner that invites others to hear and understand your point of view.

Throughout the course, you will engage in various individual and group activities designed to put theory into practice. These will include role-plays, group discussions, and practical exercises to help you apply what you've learned in real-life scenarios.

Whether you're looking to improve your interpersonal skills, enhance your professional communication, or better understand the complexities of human interaction, this course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to communicate more effectively and confidently.

Feedback from Corporate Clients

Learning active listening and reinforcing the value of close relationships and interdepartmental communication was very helpful. Thx

It's crazy that I had to be told people want to be heard and they don’t necessarily need a problem solver.  What a relief! Thank you.

It was helpful to learn that people often assume everyone knows the details of a discussion when people are actually walking away with various levels of understanding and memory. It was good to see how paraphrasing can help fill in the gaps.

During follow-up coaching sessions I heard from others who were also practicing these skills. The experiences of others were inspirational and showed what I can work towards. These sessions also gave immediate ideas about how to solve current challenges in these conversations.

My favorite part of this course was learning helpful tips to utilize in real-life situations in order to improve one's active listening skills.

Excellent coach! Real-life shares by active participants.

These are necessary skills for everyone.

Food for Thought

“To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”

– Tony Robbins, author, speaker, coach

“Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty. Act with integrity. The greatest problem with communication is we don’t listen to understand. We listen to reply. When we listen with curiosity, we don’t listen with the intent to reply. We listen for what’s behind the words.”

– Roy T. Bennett, author

“If you just communicate, you can get by. But if you communicate skillfully, you can work miracles.”

– Jim Rohn, author, speaker and entrepreneur
